Naomi
It was a chilly Wednesday afternoon in November. I had gone over to my friend’s house to watch Disney movies and avoid uni work. We were having a great time all cosied up on the couch under a quilt with her dog Darcy when her boyfriend came home and spoiled our fun. He did not want to watch Disney movies. Soon after, there was a knock at the door.
I could see the door from where I was sitting and as soon as it opened, my eyes locked with the person standing there. I saw Matt’s dark hair, dark eyes and a smile that made my heart skip a beat. From that moment, I knew this person was going to be significant in my life - I just didn’t know how much!
There was one issue - I had a boyfriend at the time. That didn’t stop me from thinking in moment I saw him “I would!” and it certainly didn’t stop me from flirting outrageously with him for the rest of the evening. We spent that night laughing and getting to know each other a bit. I don’t remember much of what we talked about, but I do remember that we had both seen the then recently released movie ‘This is The End’ and were desperately searching for streaming sites to watch it, but no joy!
Eventually the night came to an end and we parted ways. I broke up with my boyfriend shortly after. Matt and I stayed in touch as friends. Unbeknownst to the other, we each bought the film on DVD! We clearly both wanted to see each other again, but I was just out of a relationship, so it was months before we met up again and had our first date. To this day, I don’t think we’ve ever watched that film together - despite having two copies of it!

Wednesday 20th November 2013. I got a text after work on from my good friend Aaron (now one of the best men), telling me to come round because his partner at the time had “a fit mate round”. That was all the convincing I needed so I set off for his house.
Once there, I immediately agreed that she was indeed “fit”. She took my breath away. I decided to turn on all the charm I could muster, but it turned out there was no need. We immediately clicked and spent the rest of the night laughing (and I dare say flirting). I knew straight away that she was special.
We had both recently watched the film “This is The End” which our mutual friends hadn’t and were trying to find a way to watch it that night. Try as we did, we couldn’t find it so had to give up and the night sadly came to an end.
I went and bought the DVD of the film, so we had an excuse to all meet up and watch it together. I didn’t realise she had done the same. No offence to my mate Aaron, but It was only Naomi that I was bothered about watching it with. Naomi broke up with her boyfriend and we spent the next few months chatting on and off until I eventually wore her down enough to agree to a date.
