Craig
Where to start?! Let’s go from the beginning. Aged 18 my family and I moved back from America. This moment in my life was easily one of the hardest things I have ever experienced. I forged relationships with people who I consider my family to this day. So, after 8 incredible years in the States I expected the transition to life in England to take some time. Little did I know what, better yet, who was waiting for me a few months later.
New Year’s Eve 2012 and I was about to start my shift at the pub we both worked at. As crazy as it seems, that night my life changed forever. I fell in love there and then with a beautiful girl named Matilda. Tilly for short, although, I wasn’t able to piece that together the following day when I was frantically trying to find her on Facebook. I’d never seen someone so perfect. She was way out of my league, still is. As the night went on and the Jägerbombs kept flowing, I told my parents I would marry this girl one day.
I had plenty of time to think about my future wife that night. I got lost on my way home and wondered the streets, fields and farms until the sun came up! From that night, until the moment she added me on Facebook, I don’t think a minute went by where I wasn’t thinking about her. The moment I accepted that friend request I sent her a message:
“Well, if it isn’t the love of my life.”
We’ve been together ever since.
I think it’s difficult to put into words just how much Tilly means to me. We complement each other extremely well but in a weird way, our weird way. The whole yin and yang saying is very applicable. I consider myself extremely lucky to have found someone who brings the best out of me each and every day.

“He told his Dad he was going to marry me the same night we met.
I had just turned 17, he was 18 and had just returned to the UK with his family after living in America for 8 years. We were working at the same pub, where he had already worked a few shifts with my best friend (now my maid of honour) but I hadn’t met him yet. She told me about how he was just my type, and I remember her emphasising the fact he “played football”. For a long time growing up my ambition in life was to become a WAG. That’s almost too embarrassing to write - I’ve definitely grown out of that one!!
We worked our first shift together on New Year’s Eve. I remember thinking he was attractive, but I had no idea he’d hold such a significant place in my future! Craig was obviously a little more forward as he told his Dad he was going to marry me one day, that very night! A few weeks later, and the powers of social media, we were back in contact and have been together ever since.
Fast forward through college, university and my intermittent travelling adventures and we reach December 2016 when I said YES during the most perfect trip to Iceland!
We’re childhood sweethearts so we had a lot of growing up to do; I was a whirlwind of adventure and trouble whereas he was more mellow and kind. Every time we started to follow different paths they’d just randomly rejoin again. We couldn’t be more opposite people but somehow we work!
Everything happens for a reason, and we’re where we are today because fate (and a whole lot of love) got us here!”
